Atrabilis 2018
This play was born from our observation of a constant and incomprehensible distress.
We constantly trivialize with the word “depression” but what hides behind it?
Depression is an illness through which we destroy ourselves.
With this play we try to approach the perception a person suffering from depression has of himself, of the world and of the future. Depression is a silent burden which still today carries some sort of romantic connotation with it.
We enter a space which a sick person transforms into a nightmare. In front of him is the aseptic gaze of two doctors. With the patient we slowly set out on a journey which will gradually turn into a downward spiral with no chance of return.
This is not a round trip but a one way trip towards the feeling of blame and distress of the sick person.
